2025 to present VP of Engineering
Leading the engineering team/process and QA strategy, successfully driving the technical strategy of the company through a re-org. Product ownership + technical leadership, recruitment & team growth. Dev work. Setting OKRs/KPIs.

Using python to connect Jira, Testlodge and Github Actions APIs to automate traceability for security scanning & triage, test evidence and requirements, and compile regulatory release doc saving a week of work monthly and decreasing risk of human error. - Delivery of buildroot based linux endpoint OS
Architecture + delivery of buildroot-based highly available & secure ephemeral linux OS for edge deployments environments. - Overhaul of dev, QA and traceability process

Reducing QA head count from 8 to 3 without sacrificing quality or safety, focusing on improving requirements traceability, test automation and process improvement. - Containerisation of cloud
Docker compose based system to allow quicker QA, development and operation of part of the the Cydar cloud system. - CT follow-up transfer system

Project & team leadership, development of high-profile Cydar cloud components necessary to bring Cydar EV to the operating theatre with a good user experience. Team leadership plus larger project groups.
- In-theatre remote control
Remote control for in-theatre use. Co-ordination of research, UX consultants, UI, hardware, compliance and the development of embedded firmware for a LoRa RF USB remote. Long range, decade battery life. Deployed in US/EU, 100 sites zero issues. Users no longer use touchscreens. Embedded C, Electronics. ATMega, LoRa. - Edge Auto-update and process manager
Auto-update system for monitoring & deployment of edge-based software within the hospial. Code audited by NCC group. 100's of installs each with 100's of updates -- 0 failures. Python, GRPC. - Deformation adjustment feature
Project leadership of an anatomy adjustment tool. Team of 8 engineers to co-ordinate and prioritise work and deliver for commercial uplift. - SAML2 single-sign-on SP implementation

Edge-deployed gateway for query & retrieval of CT scans (DICOM) from hospital PACS. Strong concurrency/queuing model with real-time progress and update mechanism. In use since 2017 in 80+ hospitals - Django secure patient data portal

Built upon S3 and Redis for low-latency, reliable data access. Intrinsic automatic de-duplication and integrity guarantees. Critical for Cydar's patient data and pipeline - Distributed GPU compute system
Improved Cydar's 2D-3D image registration performance to make it clinically useful, design of a low-latency work-distribution system using Redis to reduce compute time from 50 seconds to 5

2013 to 2014 Systems design engineer
FPGA-based & PCB hardware design for video SoC validation and test systems.
- Muxing hardware in FPGA cluster
Developed a new system involving source-synchronous clocking. The new design was capable of 4.5x SoC core clock improvement decreasing costs and increasing productivity 2x - Stereoscopic camera development add-on board
2 daughtercard designs for a dev kit to interface 2x CSI cameras with shared clock and auto-stereoscopic 3D display without datasheets available.
2010 to 2011, 2012 Year-in-industry + summer intern
Vertex 7 FPGA cluster bring-up with pattern checking HDL. Dev board design, stereoscopic camera add-on, automated testing system, lab + budget management, technical duties.
